In people with movement disorders, SDS can initiate complex motor coordination or support its reactivation. Depending on the movement frequencies, which are manually stimulated primarily in the alpha wave range (8-13 Hz), a state of relaxed alertness, concentrative processes build up that significantly support sensitive perception of movement. In the lying position, position and movement are experienced and learned through both body perception and visual control.

The water-filled cover evenly and comfortably cradles the lying body parts. The movement of the body adapts to the movement of the water in a relaxed manner and enters into a wave and spiral-shaped movement pattern. Body coordination and body perception are activated subconsciously – in an almost meditative state. By optimizing your sensitivity to your own body, your ability to coordinate everyday movements is enhanced.

SDS therapy is carried out on a sonicated, water-filled, motion-sensitive (sensitive motion) lying surface. The surface consists of a very thin, soft special membrane. The water filling has a constant temperature of 32 degrees Celsius. The entire water element rests on 4 large loudspeakers, which are fixed in a frame system and provide the SDS system with sound. Selected frequency bands, high frequencies, are used dominantly for the sound and transmitted via the sound conduction of the water. The specially compiled sounds (AMK) are enriched with varying and individually adapted sound spectra.

A further stimulus is provided by the varying and individually adapted sound spectra (see “Acupuncture with sounds”, AMK, according to Berndsen/Berndsen). As the membrane of the water element is in direct contact with the loudspeakers, the sound waves are directed into the water and transmitted from there to the body. The acoustic stimuli stimulate the psychologically and physically influential sense of hearing, which receives its information via the skin, tissue and bones on the one hand and via the ear on the other. Sensory actions, the finest muscle contractions and brain functions are stimulated via these receptors, which optimizes the integration of information.

In a second phase, SDS therapy is carried out on a “sensory couch” in an inwardly curved (concave) body position. The “Senso Couch” is balanced in such a way that it is moved solely by breathing in and out. This brings the breathing rhythm and body movement into harmony and further consolidates the goals of SDS therapy.
