Dr. Klaus Berndsen
Scientific Director at ISST
Dr Berndsen studied physics, patholinguistics and rehabilitation science at the universities of Bonn, Cologne and Dortmund. At the University of Dortmund, he was responsible for full-time teaching and research in rehabilitation science for several years.
During numerous study visits to universities and clinical and scientific institutes in the USA, Spain and South America, which he completed together with his wife Sabine Berndsen, he focussed on the latest research in the fields of rehabilitation science, brain research and functional muscle function therapy. At the same time, he led international projects on therapy and technology research for disabled and non-disabled people and treated patients in various countries around the world.
While working as a full-time lecturer at the University of Dortmund, Chair of “Rehabilitation Science”, he completed his doctorate on the subject of “Media behaviour and communication learning” (book title). It contains the results of a clinical-scientific study on the influences of active use of modern media on the development of communication behaviour in disabled adolescents.
As an author and co-author, Dr Klaus Berndsen has published books and numerous scientific articles in specialist books and journals. He is also a speaker at national and international congresses. He is an organiser and collaborator in interdisciplinary medical working groups and a lecturer at various universities. He teaches the theory and clinical practice of neurofunctional therapy methods in the Department of Dentistry and Orthodontics at the University of Frankfurt am Main. He also initiates and supervises numerous research projects in this field.
Treatment methods, patents and innovative developments researched, developed and produced by Dr Klaus and Sabine Berndsen are recognised and used worldwide. The results of their work have been frequently presented in the public media. They have been invited as experts in working groups and television programmes for various medical reports.
Since 2020, Dr Klaus Berndsen has been providing regular information on important health topics on the YouTube channel Dr. Berndsen Medical under the motto Health needs Mind.
Health needs Mind! Does the search for specialists and gurus lead to greater misery? Does a practitioner have “healing hands” who straightens a spine that has been displaced up or down for the umpteenth time? Are doctors who straighten teeth that soon become crooked again or those who put teeth on splints the best? On reflection, illusions fade: Only if we succeed in finding the true cause will we be spared repetitive treatments, the constant search for new aids and endless suffering. Therapies are often implausible and ignorantly reduced to a symptom. Reasons and accompanying signs of illness are arbitrarily assigned to this symptom. All too often, however, this is a great fallacy: causes become apparent early on as deviating functions. We detect them with reason and help to stay or become healthy. Logic and reason lead to better decisions! Less treatment usually means better health!
